Arrival at Tibenham

November, 1943 was a time of transition for the men of the 445th. Now they had finished their stateside training. Crews were en route to England to begin operations. Little did they realize what lay ahead for them and those to follow.

This was a time of uncertainty for the men. How would they handle the stress of combat? Could they find it in themselves to do what had to be done? Would they live to make it back home? These and a thousand and one questions passed through their minds.

The only certainties were that they had a job to do; that each man had nine other men depending on him; and that they had faith in their God, Country, loved ones back home, and the cause they were fighting for - freedom from tyranny!
