March, 1944 was a period of reflection on what had happened and what could possibly happen.  The Gotha mission during "Big Week" had been an eye-opener.  Even though the Eighth Air Force had been hammering on German aircraft production, the Luftwaffe was still a force to be reckoned with.  The pressure was kept up on aircraft manufacturing facilities as well as "NOBALL" missions flown against the pilot-less flying bombs the Germans were launching from near the French coast.
