March, 1944 was a period of
reflection on what had happened and what could possibly happen. The Gotha
mission during "Big Week" had been an eye-opener. Even though the Eighth
Air Force had been hammering on German aircraft production, the Luftwaffe was
still a force to be reckoned with. The pressure was kept up on aircraft
manufacturing facilities as well as "NOBALL" missions flown against the
pilot-less flying bombs the Germans were launching from near the French coast.
