Mission Histories

Personalized mission histories are available, although production time is slow due to the researcher having to work full-time.  The information used to prepare these histories come from information copied from the National Archives, 16mm microfilm reels of tactical mission reports, military records and captured German records.

All proceeds from sales of these mission histories goes into the purchase of additional microfilm reels ($65 each) and the conversion to a digital format for viewing and future transcription ($100 per reel).  There are some 25 reels with detailed information pertaining to the 445th Bomb Group yet to be purchased.

A personal mission history begins with a explanation of terminology used in the report, general information about the 445th Bomb Group, unit awards, a map of the base, diagrams of in-flight formations, a summary table of missions flown by the individual being researched and an account of the day's mission and the crew load list.  If the crew was lost on a given mission, a Missing Crew Report (if available) is included.

An example of a personal mission history is shown in the link below.  This is an older format which has been revised slightly to make reading a little easier.  If you are interested in obtaining a mission history of a former crewman, contact the webmaster for more details on cost and delivery schedule.
